Rides

At first i was really reluctant to go on this ride. I was told there would be about 10-15 rides. Then i thought, what the hell, can make new friends rite. So got up at 7 am, got ready, drank a shot of protein shake, a cup of oatmeal, got the bike into the car and off i went to T6, its like 20km from my house. I was too lazy to ride there la, plus i was kinda late. We were suppose to meet up there at 7.45am. Managed to reach T6 bout 8.05 and i was suprised, there were well over 20 riders there.

Some hellos, and head nod, i got my bike out and started riding bout 8.30. It seems that more riders were suppose to join along the way. There were 4 riders from Tangkak !

Reached Bandar Tenggara and i counted the bikes, there were like 40, big croud. There were also the Bike Polo Team.

Headed to a mamak stall, refueled and started to journey back.

Basicly it was about 60k plus. This ride was more a leasure ride. Got to meet people and made me forget bout my problem for awhile. Just for awhile only...

Later that evening, bout 6pm drove up to Melaka, my EX was there. Reached there about 7.30pm and had a really long talk with her. Poured my heart out, never done such things to any girl or any living thing. She just listened. Her heart now belongs to someone else she says.

Crap la.

bike ride

Forced myself to go on this ride today. Haven't had the motivation since the dump. I've been blaming the whole traning thing for the breakup actually.


I was concentrating too much on trainings till i just left her hangging alone. Totally my fault, stupid me.
But as i was riding today, i was thinking...why couldnt she understand ? It was not like i was cheating on her ? I was just training for something most people wouldn't even think of doing. She should have been proud of me rite??? What the hell, she left me now.

And another thing, riding back time, one of the spokes broke. Got me freaked out abit. Stoped and called Daniel at TBB, he said it will be ok to ride on. So i just bended the broken spoke and carried on. I know, i'm too fat, need to loose more weight !!! damn...
I know, slow, average 25.6km/h

i've got my bike, its a Planet-X TT carbon chrono.

i can swim 2k under 1 hour these days. May not be so fast, but i'm proud of it.

Been cycling alot alot, thats pretty new.

I've been dumped. Heart broken, Its been 3 days now. I guess now u guys know why i'm back blogging huh. I just got no where elso to let it all out. IM SAD !!! IM BROKEN !!!
I didnt know this at that time... but know only i realise that i was actually sincerely, honestly in love with her. Too late now huh...

Swim

Today was the best day to date in the pool. Jumped in at about 6.45pm, not many people today, thats very suprising given that the pool has been packed every day the past 2 weeks, cause of the hot weather.

Anyway, did the 1k in about 30 minutes, seems that i'm getting used to this pace. Decided to push abit and continued to do a few more laps, somehow that few laps turned in many many laps and i lost count. Pretty sure i did more that 2k today. Felt good. Arms were ok, the legs were abit tired, should adjust not to use legs too much.

swim

Im really into swimming now. Yesterday, i did my first 10 laps non stop. Took me almost 30 minutes . Not to berlagak, but for a guy that just learned to swim, i think thats damn good !!

Anyway, still no running or cycling, the leg/groin pain still not 100% recorved. The acute pain still comes when i sleep up side down (my face facing the pillow). So, that means the problem is still there.

Was reading blogs of stupehttp://opstupe.blogspot.com/ and shazly'shttp://shazlykhan.blogspot.com/, at this time of 2007, they were doing like 50km of run each week and about 100km of bike....me ? nothing !
Makes me really wonder how on crap am gonnna get ready for IM09..BUT I KNOW I CAN !!

Leg pain

swimming has been great, but the major leg pain that i've been having still hasn't recorved. Still doing all the streaching excersises and stop all cardio workout that involves the leg.

And the weight loss part...well it sucks...im still stuck at 92kg for the part 2 weeks now...probably thats cause of all the late dinner after swim...i've really got to focus on the diet.

It was 2nd July i entered the pool the first time. Been going there everyday since then, couldnt get the "water feel " only till few days ago. All this started when Stupe http://opstupe.blogspot.com and i had this conversation via email...read on..the chest press part was the key

bro..your head and chest should be inline...if done correctly, u will just be right at the top of the water surface. :) u only turn to breathe..and that rolling action will automatically make u come up for air...and u won't get fatigue on the neck like how u first say u kena.

don't worry, i've been swimming with the wrong technique for years until last year i got a few pointers to tweak it

use the lane underwater as a guidance for ur hand...if u aim ur hand towards the lane on both left and right, rest assured u hand will be straight and u will roll, that is the most important thing as rolling will make u go faster and more efficiently (initially u will feel pening la)

as to how to press the chest down...
ok, imagine this, you lie down a chair with ur tummy acting as the pivot (like see-saw). what is happening now is that ur upper body is high, so ur leg drop into water, creating drag. but if u push ur chest, ie the front of the see saw down, ur leg will raise, isn't it?

pres the chest down as in not literally press ur chest with ur hand la...but push it towards the bottom of the swimming pool...get it?when u push ur chest down, your legs also will go up automatically.

Bro. 1.5k in 30 minutes for someone like me that has been racing for 4 to 5 years is SLOW. :P

freestyle use a lot of upper body. kicking is minmal, just to balance the body.

the trick to be fast is to ensure your legs are straight and not sinking down...how to do it is to press your chest into the water, automatically the leg will raise. :)

Also, don't bother about the S-shaped motion of your hand, those are ol skool. just make sure your hand are straight under the water...

if ur in the swimming pool, swim between 2 lanes..meaning you swim right in the middle with the two lines under the water on yoru left and right...

what u do is eveytime you hand reach out, make sure you are like touching the lines...that would make your hand open wide like kangkang...

but trust me, that is the correct way!

I also have to give credit to a 50++ year old guy that i met at the pool the same day i've wanted to try out the chest press down. The advice was damn simple, dont look forward, just look down and eventually u will reach the other end of the pool. And guess what, his advice was really great !!
Tiba-tiba, i was doing multiple laps non stop, only that i was much slower la...
But the key thing, i now know what it means to have the "water feel" and it feels great.

still trying.

Nothing much to be posted, haven't run for more than a month now. Still hoping that the nerve problem will go away...has not.
Been trying to learn swimming. Proud to say, now i can swim a good 25 meter, trying to get the rythem now. I know i can....
Will post more when i've fully recoverd from my nerve problem and swill my first 100 meters !

Streching !!

No more cardio for me now, atleast for a month. Doing loads of streching excersice now. All together about 17 types of positions. The hardest was streching my hamsting, they're in bad shape, really tight ligaments.

resting..

been resting alot these days, seems that the acute pain getting better. Haven't felt it so often these days.

About the diet, been doin well i guess. Have cut my food portions/intake. Basicly 1 loaf of whole mean bread per day, eating about 2 slices speard with tuna each 3 hours or so. Taking few table spoon of oat meal when ever feel hungry again. Probably kcal intake is less than 1500 perday.

Alternative medicine

Im been having some severe acute pain at the joint of my leg and hip, kinda hard to explain where excatly it is. Somehow its near the groin area. Apart of quitting a bad habbit of mine, this acute pain also contributed to my weight gain. This pain only occurs when i lift my legs sideways in certain angel, position and sometimes when i run or bike for a long time (above 30 mins).
I didn't do any cardio workout the part 2 months plus, been doing lots of streaching, hoping the injury would recover. And it did, but not fully, since starting back on the treadmill last week, the pain has been coming back.
So finally, i went to see a chines sen sei this morning. Seems that he is well know among the gym guys. Got there about 9am, and i was suprised, there was a queue, i was No6, and they open at 8:30...business must been good eh?? When it was my trun, i got in the private room, the guy was in his early 50s, pretty young guy, jugding by all the certs that he hung all over the wall.
He was very fast, too my pulse on both arms, took my blood pressure, asked me whats wrong, where it hurts. He just nod his head and said he knows, a very big nerve is tangled/injured. Asked me take off my pants, laid on the bed, rubbed some oilment, and he said that the nerve is too deep inside so he's gonna put a jab, and he did so fast that i couldn't react as i was still trying to understand what he was saying. As i was grinding over the pain, he quickly put another jab on my side hip. Put some more oilment and gave a good rub. And i was all fixed. He said so cold water and no excersice for the 1 month and no beer (why huh??)
I got out, there i was given 3 types of pills, take once 3 times daily. Paid RM29.

Frustrated !

Got back to my usuall socks, once i got it on, obvious it was the better choice, the shoe fit much better, gave better support when i was pounding my foot with 94kgs of weight.
But the feeling wasn't long, just about 15 minutes into the run, claves was aching again, pushed myself to 20 minutes and finnally gave up. Damn...loosing weight is just so frustrating, i'm very angry at myself.

Starting to have serious doubts bout joining IronMan 2009...to think of if, i have so much to do...honestly, I'm scared.

Mistakes...

Made a big mistake last friday, the day i did the 1 hour run.
Firstly, i got a new pair of socks, it was a Adidas, much more thin than the usuall socks i wear. This caused my shoes to be slighty loose, and this thin socks didn't have any paddings such as the older socks. This cause slight pain as i ran, it was just a slight pain, so i just ignored and ran...
Secondly, 15 minutes before the 1hour mark, i did a 5 minute dash, it was at speed 10.5.
Because of these 2, today, i couldn't even run for 10 minutes, both my calves and left foot was aching badly. Was feeling fine the whole weekend, but few minutes on the treadmill and i knew what i had done wrong.
So lesson learnt... never wear anything new that u aren't used to, and never try to push too hard when u arent ready for it.

more on running..


Been slacking the past 2 days. Legs were aching, but managed to hit the treadmill today. Ran for 1 hour, the longest i've ran the past 6 months First 30 minutes at speed 8.0 and the next 30 minutes at 8.5. Hopefully at the end of next week will be running at speed 9. Have a feeling can make it..I know i can !
Weighed in today...hmmm...seems i've lost some weight, probably just water, i weighed after the 1 hour run.

run,run,run..

ran for 40 minutes again today, speed 8.0 for first 20 minutes, then 8.5 for the next 20 minutes. probably about 6km...legs were aching abit, but it was ok...breathing was steady...i'm getting used to it...we'll see how things goes in a weeks time.
got to try running on the road one of these days...running on treadmill is just too comfy...

downhill..

Training doesn't seem to be going as planned.... went to gym last friday...did a 40 minute run, speed 8.5....probably was about 6 km..legs were aching too much, had to stop...probably because of the weight...94kgs....damn
And today, had late night supper...KFC...damn, food control....it is 50% of the battle !!! Have to change my ways !

the first day..

This is history...first time i'm blogging in my life..... Im doing this so that hopefully someday in the future i can look back and read through the dreams that i have now....the goals that i have set to achive...and maybe, just maybe few other would read this and would get inspired...

So what my goal...simple first, to loose weight, im a good 94kg now, gained about 10kg since 2 months back,thats when i quit smoking for good. Yeap, thats rite, i've been smoking on and for for almost 9 years and decided to quit. But since then i gained some weight....

Second...to be an IRONMAN !! and i'm gonna do it in 2009. I know i can !!
